The Briefest of Brief Video Updates

Or: Hello from the other side of the surprise funeral

Hi everyone,

Have you ever had those moments where you thought…this is it. I’m so broken, how can I possibly work through this, let alone see the light at the end of the tunnel? That was me a few months ago. After Dad dying, and Uncle Tony dying, and then finding out about the surprise funeral, I was just so done. I was upset, devastated, heartbroken, grieving, and all of the other emotions converging into one amorphous blog deep within me. I needed for the time to pass in order to heal.

And now, I feel like I’m on “the other side.” While Dad and Uncle Tony are still gone, and there’s always a new realm of BS to sift through regarding caregiving and possessions and memories and life, I feel like it’s all about perspective, in a way. Has my perspective changed? Or has the weather shifted from deep darkness in winter to the approach of spring and (slightly) warmer weather and sunnier days?

I’ve been thinking about sharing a video for quite some time and after a

Writer’s Hour and a subsequent mingle, I decided to just do it and share it. No edits. No script. Just an off-the-cuff recording to share with you all how I’m doing at this moment in time and what could potentially be happening here on Millennial Caregivers in the future.

I’ve been hugely inspired by

’s Substack and how she just records videos wherever she is, and I decided to try it out. Do you like it? Do you prefer written updates, or do you like video updates? Let me know!

Thank you all for reading and watching.

Sincerely,

Madeline
